OUR STORY

Once upon a time... Over two years ago in a Spring-filled town of Boone, there was a long, drawn-out, heavy winded Contemporary Music Festival put on by the brothers of Phi Mu Alpha at Appalachian State University. Required to go to these concerts were two young single students, a beautiful music major named Kimberly and a remarkably handsome business-minded boy named Sam.

One night, during this week, Sam happened upon Kimberly who had not eaten all day and was trying hard not to kill everyone in sight. Lucky enough he had an entire box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts in which he could share with the lovely lady and thusly save the world from her wrath. Once their eyes met, (and the doughnut was exchanged) there was magic in the air. Angels sang alleluia, fireworks exploded, cities rejoiced, dogs kissed cats, you know, mass hysteria.

In amongst the typical after-concert noise a poignant thought entered into Sam's head, "was I going to be late for CBS Survivor?" This moment passed when he realized he was on his way home, but another one quickly pushed deeper into his brain, "ask the pretty girl to come watch Survivor." It was a great thought, a brilliant thought worthy of the Nobel Prize of Intelligence or other honorable mention. Before Kimberly could leave the Broyhill Music Building Sam caught up to her and nervously asked, "um, ah would ah, um you like to watch, um Survivor, ah over at my, um place?" With a special gleam in her eyes Kimberly looked deeply into Sam's glassy cold fish-like face and quietly said, "uh Sure."

Almost two years later, through all the laughs and tears, the sun and rain, and of course one more Contemporary Music Festival, Kimberly and Sam were still together and going strong. Strong enough that on a cold, Boone, Tuesday, December night, Sam had a present for Kimberly. After they had decorated their Charlie Brown Christmas Tree, the two lovebirds sat down on the couch to look at the tree in the candlelight. Fleeting moments passed as a nervous Sam stood up and asked Kimberly to join him next to the tree. From under a pillow he produced a small bag that held a present. When she opened the package her eyes widened as she picked up a silver ornament with the words "Sam and Kimberly 2003" handwritten on the side. An amused smile widened over her face, but the surprise was on the other side of the present. She turned the ornament over and with wide watering eyes read the handwritten, "Will you Marry Me?". Immediately a very nervous Sam went on one knee and while taking the ring from his pocket asked his princess to be his bride.

She said yes... and the rest is history....
